People always say to me – ‘oh you’re so lucky, you must have thousands of photos of Casper as a baby’ and it’s true. I am lucky. I have the perfect record of his nearly three years so far. I totally take that for granted.
A baby’s first year is so precious, they change so quickly and so dramatically that it’s so important to record their progress through it. They’ll never change so much in such a short space of time again. So I wanted to be able to offer new parents a chance of having what I have and what I love – a perfect, natural, beautiful photographic record of that first twelve months.
And baby Isla is the first little person whose year I’m documenting for her mummy and daddy! Every month, we’re meeting up so I can update Isla’s first year story. Then when she turns one, I’ll create a beautiful handmade leather album of her journey.
She’s three months old already, so I thought this would be a nice time to introduce her and show you just how much she’s changed already… Starting with her ‘newborn’ photos when she was just a week old.

It’s hard to believe looking at this next photo that it was less than a month later! When I came back for her one-month-old session she was able to support her head and we even had a couple of half smiles…

This was a gorgeous day at the end of March and we managed to nip outside for a bit of springtime sunshine. I love these few early family photos, especially the third one below with the blossom tree behind and mummy looking so adoringly at her baby. I just know these are photos Isla will treasure too when she grows up.

Billie the cat had been keeping his eye on us from a distance and he couldn’t help coming to join in!

At two-months-old I suggested getting some photos in Isla’s nursery before she moves in. Parents often put a lot of effort into getting the nursery ready and it’s a lovely memory too.

I love this one in their conservatory. She looks very grown up!

You can just tell she’s going to be a cheeky one! Those eyes. I adore this little set and they really show off her early character. So happy, so contented. It was great to get a couple of family portraits too.

Then a couple of weeks ago I was back again as Isla turned three months old! She’s so alert now, so interested in everything that’s going on. Starting to develop an interest in objects and toys and it was lovely to get some photos of her playing in her little bouncer.

Here’s that cheeky face again!

I’d forgotten about the back-of-the-head-bald-patch before I saw it on Isla. Such a cute memory to have.

Now tell me this isn’t the cutest way you’ve seen a baby go to sleep?

Because she’s nearly grown out of her pram, Anne and Scott wanted a few photos in it while she still just about fits. Just seeing her in it made me feel tired – it looked so incredibly warm and cosy. I wanted to make Billie the cat feel included again too!

Now that I’ve introduced you to Isla I’ll be posting regular updates of her baby’s first year progress. I can’t wait to capture her first toothy smile, sitting up and taking her first steps!
