I’ve decided to combine Sophie and Alex’s pre-wedding shoot and wedding into one blog. We met up at Bruntwood Park in Cheadle, only a few days before their wedding to get them a lovely photo they could use in their signature frame on the day. This was a typical cold, windy February morning but we had good fun walking round Bruntwood Park talking about their wedding day and getting a few photographs.

This was my favourite of their pre-wedding photos…

But they chose this one as their favourite for their on-the-day signature frame…

And then a few days later we were at Rookery Hall in Nantwich, Cheshire for their wedding. Now, most people have heard of Rookery Hall because it’s where a certain Mr Beckham popped the question to Victoria. It’s a gorgeous hotel in fantastic grounds, and is a firm favourite Cheshire Wedding Venue. I love how the bedrooms are named after months…

Helicopter parked just outside. It’s not mine in case you were wondering… I decided not to be flash that day and took the car instead. Apparently Jason Donovan was also staying at the hotel that day, but it wasn’t his either.

I left Sophie alone to enjoy the last minutes before the wedding ceremony with her bridesmaids and Mum, while I took a few photos of Alex and his groomsmen.

Sophie, the ever-elegant bride descends the stunningly beautiful staircase on her way to her groom.

Sophie and Alex used this next one on their wedding thank you cards…

Sophie and Alex walked up the aisle quicker than I’ve ever seen! I think they were keen to get their hands on a glass of champers, it’s a good job me and videographer Vanessa Williams were prepared, otherwise we’d have missed it!!

Let me tell you – this was a cold day!! Sophie was keen to have their photos done outside though so we nipped outside. I told the bridal party to pretend they were somewhere in the mediterranean. I think they did a great job of not looking cold…

Sophie and Alex were also keen to get some portraits of the two of them in the beautiful gardens of Rookery Hall. So we braved the sub-zero temperatures a little bit longer and had a fairly quick walk around.

Sophie’s custom wedding day Ugg boots!

With quite a long break between the end of the wedding breakfast and speeches and the evening guests arriving it gave me a chance to get some candid shots of Sophie, Alex and their guests relaxing and enjoying themselves. I also followed Vanessa around while she got some of the guests to say a few words for the wedding video.

Sophie and Alex had put out disposable cameras on the tables for their guests, and this super-cute little girl really worked the room! A wedding photographer of the future I reckon.

I love this message someone left on the signature frame. Simple but what more do you need to say?

We slipped away into the darkness armed with a flash to get some night time portraits before the evening party started.

They had lined the path approaching the reception room with little bags of light with hearts on.

Congratulations Sophie and Alex – I had such fun being your wedding photographer at Rookery Hall and your family and friends were so friendly and welcoming to me, I had such a lovely day capturing your wedding for you. And to echo what Angie said on your frame – be happy!
