This is an exciting blog post for me – not only do I get to show you Caroline and Liam’s gorgeous set of maternity photos, but it also marks the launch of a new ARJ Photography service – maternity portrait sessions.
Caroline and Liam wanted some natural, relaxed photos of the two of them and their bump. They wanted something to help them remember this amazing time in their lives which seemed to be passing by ridiculously quickly. But they weren’t keen on nudity or naked-belly-close-ups.
So we spent a couple of hours together one Saturday afternoon – first around their local park, then back at home. The whole idea being capturing them as they are, their life as it is, before it all changes with the new arrival.
Some of my favourites from the session below – special memories that they’ve told me they will treasure forever.

You know when they say women get that pregnancy glow? Well Caroline totally had it – she was so happy and so excited.

It took a little while to convince Liam that having his photo taken was going to be fun! He told me at the start of the shoot that he ‘didn’t want to be in many’ but by the end he was absolutely loving it. It helped when he realised I just wanted him to be himself and relax!

I had scouted out the location beforehand, and Caroline had said that when I told her I’d found a purple door, she thought I was a bit weird. But it looks great against her white top. And I let Liam off for a bit while we got some photos of this gorgeous mum-to-be on her own.

I had suggested to Caroline and Liam that we do their shoot in two halves, one out in the park and one back at home. I wanted to get some photos of them in their home environment. They loved the idea, and Caroline got changed too. It just adds another dimension to the photos because you don’t realise how much your home changes when the baby comes!

I love this one – it’ll be one of those photos that when they look back at it in the future they’ll say ‘oh, do you remember when we could do that? Just sit and read’!

Since the shoot, Caroline and Liam have had their little girl and called her Olive – they’re all doing really well.
They didn’t know at the time of the shoot whether it was a boy or girl but they’d pretty much decided on their chosen name for each.

Doing some photos back at home also meant I was able to capture some photos of the little baby things they had started to buy.

Caroline and Liam will be brilliant parents to Olive, and they’ve already asked me back to take some photos of her which I’m really looking forward to.
