To me, wedding photography isn’t a style of photography in itself – it’s a mixture of lots of different styles and techniques so I feel it’s important as a wedding photographer that I have a broad range of experience and knowledge to call upon as needed on a fast-moving wedding day or to enhance engagement and portrait sessions.
So when I got the opportunity to spend the day on the streets of Manchester’s brilliant Northern Quarter with world class photographer Chris Hanley and top Italian model Valentina Feula I signed myself up straight away.
Watching Chris at work was inspirational, and throughout the day we created some amazing fashion images using the unique backdrops that Manchester provides. And despite torrential downpours in the afternoon, Valentina was ultra-professional and kept on helping us to produce stunning photography – Grazie Valentina!
And Chris – I promise that this post doesn’t contain any images of you posing or wearing a pink scarf!
Some of my favourites from the day… Not post-processed in my usual style but I wanted to give these images more of a stylised edge to fit in with the overall style of the shoot and location.
I got so much inspiration from the day, thanks loads to Chris and Claire Hanley for such a well planned masterclass and to Valentina for being a superstar model despite the so-called typical Manchester weather. It also made me appreciate what a great city Manchester is hearing photographers from other parts of the country say how lucky we are to have such amazing character right on our doorstep.
