I’ll remember all my couples, for sure, but there’s something special about Leanne and Chris. Two nicer people you’d struggle to meet – I introduced them to you a few posts ago through their engagement shoot. Their wedding was all held close to their home in Wallasey on the Wirral.
Leanne doesn’t just like vintage – she is vintage. She lives vintage. Which is why I feel like this is a great image to start off the blog of their wedding day. The phone at her parents house.

I spent a couple of hours with Leanne getting ready in the morning at her parents, and she was a real bag of emotions. Happy, excited, stressed, nervous, calm. She just wanted everything to be as she planned.

Leanne had this box custom made to hold her wedding jewellery and memories of the day.

I did nip over to Chris’ parent’s house to get a few photos of him getting ready but stress levels there were running high too so I backed off and left them to it. On the way out I spotted these badges featuring Leanne and Chris’ heads!

Leanne, as Lilly von Pink, also designs a children’s range inspired by their super-cute son Dylan!

I left Leanne in the final stages of getting ready (and stressing about Dylan’s missing trousers!) and headed over to the church.

I’m not strictly a pure photojournalist, as I do like to influence and help to create photos throughout the day but a lot of what I do is observing a wedding day as it happens through my lens. When I get a great, unplanned, unprovoked journalistic shot like this next one it makes me jump for joy inside a little bit…

Leanne arrives. I’ve known brides to be nervous at this point but Leanne was really nervous…

The rings refused to detach from the cushion, much to Chris’ amusement!

I know I get a lot of photographers reading this blog as well as potential brides and grooms. You’ll all know that bright churches are rare (some might say the stuff of legend), and I pinched myself a couple of times when I was getting acceptable shutter speeds at ISO400 during my earlier tests! In a church! I know!

Check. Out. The. Shoes.

As a wedding photographer I see a lot of cakes. I’m a big fan of cake. This is more than a wedding cake, more than a cake. This is cake heaven.

Leanne and Chris handmade and handwrote all the cake decorations. I didn’t count but I’d say there were at least a million cakes on this table. It must have taken decades.
Did I ever tell you how much I like to exaggerate? What I’m trying to say is that I was absolutely blown away by the level of detail and craftmanship.

And not just cakes. Sweets too. I am also a huge fan of sweets (ask my dentist). Especially retro sweets, although I think Dylan loved them more than me…

Short, sweet but very sincere speeches.

What a couple, what a wedding, what a day. It was all too much for little Dylan who put up a good fight but gave in after he saw Mummy and Daddy’s first dance. Congratulations Leanne and Chris, it was amazing being your photographer.

Claire - It looks like a beautiful day, and I love how you’ve set the scene with the vintage styley pictures from home. Leanne looks amazing, I love her look – and her smile and Chris’s say everything went beautifully. Oh and the church shot – it looks like they put heaven in there, at the top. Gorgeous.
