When I met Charlotte and Darren a couple of months ago for their pre-wedding engagement shoot, I realised that their wedding was going to be a fun day. They’re such easy people to spend time with. They got married on a typical British day in May – one minute sunshine, the next torrential rain, then sun again… But luckily the rain happened at times when it didn’t really matter and we managed to work around it.
I started off as usual with Charlotte capturing some details and some of the morning atmosphere. Including her gorgeous Maggie Sotero dress.

Shoes! In order of appearance – bridesmaids, bride’s daytime and bride’s party time!

Lots of stunning flowers by the brilliant Horticouture Floral Designers.

Charlotte had bought cards for her bridesmaids and this was Cassie’s – who actually did look like a people person to me!

As you’ll see soon, Charlotte’s Dad Jeff is actually the minister of the church where she’s getting married. He would be doing a part of their marriage ceremony.

The flowers again… Charlotte had asked her best friends what they would all be wearing and bought them a colour co-ordinated corsage to wear. How lovely and thoughtful is that?!

There would be no problems for Charlotte changing her name, as her and Darren already have the same surname!!

Darren and Charlotte had prepared a humorous slideshow of their relationship and some of their friends too which was shown before the ceremony – Charlotte arrived just as it was finishing – it was nice for her to hear that it was getting a great reaction from the guests.

After confirming it was he who gives Charlotte to be married, Dad Jeff took over the rest of the ceremony from the lovely Kim.

I didn’t remember what had been said at this point, but Charlotte has reminded me that it was her Dad telling her to ‘say your vows to him, not ME!’. A lovely moment.

This may get you a little teary… it certainly does me… Charlotte had used the hem from her late Mum’s wedding dress as the wrap for her own bouquet. How utterly amazing.

Out we came, a few family photos later and the heavens opened!

The wedding reception was at the old court house in Worsley. Still raining when we arrived!

Best place name cards of the year so far – home made jams by Darren’s family!

After the meal, just before the speeches, I quickly stole Charlotte and Darren for a couple of portraits in the court house.

After the thoroughly horrible afternoon of weather, we had some lovely evening sun which we’d been keeping our fingers crossed for as we wanted to head over to Worsley Green for some bridal party photos.

I love this one. Really love it.

The beautiful bride and her gorgeous bridesmaids in the lovely evening sunshine.

After we got back, the DJ was setting up and once he was ready he really did an amazing job of whipping up the crowd and getting them in the mood for a party. He was throwing round glowing wrist bands and just generally creating a really great party atmosphere. He then craftily, via a kind of non-cheesy-conga-type-game, got everyone up and into a circle around the dance floor for the first dance. Very clever indeed.

Huge congratulations to Charlotte and Darren. Thanks for having me as your photographer and I wish you all the best for your future together.
