I’m a maverick – I like to break the rules, push boundaries, I might even tell the odd white lie… But I apologise for what I’m about to do, I know it may shock you to your very core, but trust me it’ll be worth it…
I’m breaking chronology on the blog. I’m blogging this out of order.
I’ve still got four weddings and and engagement shoot to showcase from October, but I really wanted to show these images before Sally and Lee get married this Saturday. Executive decision!
Ok, so you may not have noticed but a few weeks ago it snowed. Snow isn’t the easiest thing in the world to photograph, but it looks amazing on photos. I was so pleased when it snowed before Sally and Lee’s engagement session because the world doesn’t look like this all that often believe it or not, so it’s exciting to capture it when it does.

These two gorgeous people are getting married this Saturday in Manchester. Their wedding is at two of my favourite venues and I can’t wait for it. They are from and live in Stoke though, so we had their engagement shoot at Trentham Gardens at the end of November. What a beautiful place, I could’ve spent all day taking photos there.

Such natural chemistry is a joy to capture, and these two are so in love. I adore this next image.

I love Sally’s hat. But I love the way she smiles when she looks at Lee more.

I usually leave it until a little while into an engagement shoot before I broach the idea of kissing for the camera. Sometimes I get looked at like I’m some kind of crazy fool and sometimes I wonder if I should look the other way and give the couple some alone time!
Let’s just say these two needed very little encouragement…

I love shooting into the sun, which is great because in the middle of winter you don’t have much choice as the sun is so low in the sky. Get it right and you get some lovely colourful flare. I used this next image (with Sally and Lee’s permission) on the 2010 ARJ Photography Christmas card!

Hot air balloon!

Let me build up the next photo a little bit… I’m seeing in my head a photo with a huge blown out sun creating flare across Sally and Lee. To me that’s a great photo. Camera to eye, then a hot air balloon drifts into the frame. Click.
I wonder if I got the shot. I check it on my screen. Then I do a little dance of joy inside. I could not be more pleased with this photograph.

I feel a bit mean for making Lee climb up and balance precariously on a very icy slippy wall wearing shoes with no grip whatsoever. The photos look great, but he could easily have ended up in the icy fountain which would not have been so great!

Gorgeous.

I can not wait for your wedding guys! See you Saturday!
