Dordogne Wedding Photographer – Louise and Rahul’s wedding at Chateau Soulac
I don’t know if destination wedding photography itself has become generally more popular this year, or if I’m just fortunate enough to have been able to do a bit of travelling with my cameras, but either way I’m happy. My latest destination wedding happened almost a month ago, in the absolutely beautiful Dordogne region of France for Louise and Rahul’s French Chateau Soulac wedding Dordogne. As soon as I got off the plane in Bergerac I realised what a beautiful part of Europe this is. I had hired a super cool Fiat Barchetta (from Buggs car hire – highly recommended) and I travelled over to the chateau in Juillac with the roof down, past vineyard after vineyard, grinning wider and wider as I went, wondering how I got so lucky to do this wedding photography thing for a job. When I started out I didn’t even dare to dream that I would be covering weddings outside of Cheshire, let alone in beautiful fairytale destinations across the world. It’s a big cliche I know, but I’m a lucky man.
When I arrived I met up with Louise, Rahul and their friends who were staying with them at the chateau (I even had my own little bedroom there!). To say they welcomed me would be a huge understatement. They all made me feel like family from the moment I arrived until the moment I left. That’s the memory that will stick with me more than anything from this incredible weekend. I can’t thank them enough for this.
Louise and Rahul’s Chateau Soulac wedding had been meticulously and brilliantly planned by the lovely Kate from Marry Me in France. Kate worked tirelessly all weekend to ensure everything was perfect – the only thing that she couldn’t control being the weather which, apart from the first evening, was mischievously gloomy but apart from moving the ceremony from the lawn to the barn it stayed dry when it mattered and didn’t spoil a thing.
On the first evening, Louise and Rahul welcomed their family with an intimate and informal dinner at their chateau, to the backdrop of the golden sun setting over the acres and acres of vineyard below. The next day they put the personal finishing touches to their wedding details, followed by a big welcome party for the rest of the guests at Château de Pitray just down the road toward Gensac. The day after that they got married. It was just brilliant from beginning to end. So get a tasse de thé or a verre de vin and behold…
Wishing Louise and Rahul MASSIVE congratulations and a lifetime of happiness…
