Lisa and Dave’s amazing beautiful wedding at Portmeirion, Wales
Carlsberg don’t do wedding days, but if they did…
I was super nervous about Lisa and Dave’s Portmeirion wedding! One of my great friends – the amazing entrepreneurial tasmanian devil herself, Phoebe from Flossy and Leigh – was Lisa’s bridesmaid and Phoebe always says such nice things about my work I really wanted to do her proud as well as obviously doing an amazing job for Lisa and Dave. I hadn’t managed to chat much to Lisa and Dave in the build up to their wedding at Portmeirion so I arrived at the night before so we could have a quick that through the plans for the next day. As soon as I met them I knew we were going to get on like a house on fire, it’s the best feeling and it makes me so much more relaxed. Then I had a wander around Portmeirion, and I really couldn’t believe the place. It was a bit rainy but even in the rain it was something special, with a really unique vibe. I really couldn’t wait for the next day, whatever the weather.
When I woke up at Castell Deudraeth, the Castle hotel at Portmeirion, I could see bright sunshine streaming in through the windows. Not what I expected after a very wet day the day before!! I headed down to the Portmeirion Hotel to spend some time with Lisa while Phoebe did her hair and make-up (SO much banter!) and then I zipped back up to Castell Deudraeth to spend some time with Dave and his best men. The highlight being the moment Dave realised his suit trousers were too tight for him to bend down and do up his shoes! All in the name of fashion!
Then it was back down to the Portmeirion Hotel for Lisa to get into her dress and some super quiet last moments before she headed downstairs to meet her mum and dad.
Then Lisa, Phoebe and Lisa’s dad walked up the hill to the Hercules Hall to finally meet Dave for the wedding ceremony. The light in the Hercules Room, oh man – this light was too perfect! But my favourite thing was Lisa and Dave chuckling to each other throughout the ceremony, they are such a great couple and they gave me so many amazing moments to take photos of!
After the ceremony and some epic confetti, everyone headed back down the hill to be surprised by a full Welsh male voice choir. Just in-cred-ible. Seriously. I think the world stopped turning for a minute. All the visitors to Portmeirion that day even came down the hill to stop and listen. Outrageously good, and one of my all-time wedding highlights.
During dinner, I pulled Lisa, Dave and their bridal party out for 20 mins of exploring Portmeirion for portraits because the sun was doing something extra special and we hadn’t had time for portraits before dinner. I know I could make Portmeirion look good in overcast weather (or maybe Portmeirion could make me look good) but when an insane venue meets insane light meets an incredible couple of people, magic actually happens!
Thanks a million to Lisa and Dave for having me (and to Phoebe for recommending me, and to Phoebe and Alex for adopting me as an honorary little brother!!). I loved spending the day with you all! Here are some of my favourites from Lisa and Dave’s wedding at Portmeirion, Wales…
