Weddings at Arley Hall – Elaine and Hugh
Elaine and Hugh’s Cheshire Wedding at Arley Hall
I am renowned for my ability to make a first impression… and I lived up to my reputation at Elaine and Hugh’s wedding. I arrived at Arley Hall, having never met Elaine before, walked up to the dressing room where she was having her hair done, put my bag down, and went over to say hello and give her a trademark ARJ hug. But I was thwarted, as usual, by an inanimate object as a glass of water rudely collided with my innocent foot and went all over the floor. I wanted to rewind and start again, but luckily Elaine saw the funny side and after I found some paper towels and my bright red embarrassed face calmed down, all was good.
I love Arley Hall. I’ve worked there quite a bit over the years and I remember it was the first ‘posh’ wedding venue I worked at so it holds a quite special place in my heart. It’s such an incredible place for a wedding. A stately home but with none of the stuffiness, and some of the loveliest staff I have ever worked with – Simon and the team really do know how to run a wedding, and they always make me cups of tea which is a wonderful bonus!
In the build up to their wedding, I remember seeing Elaine’s name pop up whenever I put something on facebook, and she would like it. She always said how she couldn’t wait to see the photos, and I love that but it always adds a bit of extra pressure. Good pressure. Then when I arrived and Elaine welcomed me like an old friend (despite playing football with her glass of water) I just knew it was going to be a great day. The weather didn’t exacly play ball, raining immediately after their ceremony, but then it redeemed itself later in the evening with a gorgeous bit of sunset for us to make some photos with. That 20 minute wander around the Arley Hall gardens before their evening reception in the Olympia barn was such fun – we laughed the whole way round, stopping ever so often so Elaine and Hugh could have a cuddle and kiss. Such great people.
Elaine and Hugh – I loved meeting you, I loved your wedding and Elaine I can still hear your infectious laugh now! Have a wonderful life together you guys!
