Lianne and Mark’s wedding at Browsholme Hall and the Tithe Barn in Lancashire
That photo at the very top of this post is probably my favourite I’ve taken this year. It’s the sort of light I like and it’s absolutely bursting with all the emotions that I like to associate with weddings. These days it seems popular to capture weddings in a serene, almost silent way, creating images that are quiet and cool too look at, but give me a belly laugh and people having a good time all day long – these are the images and moments I want people to remember from their weddings – those unexpected, unplanned, unscripted moments. Going for a boat ride was Lianne and Mark’s idea, despite a very real threat of heavy rain, and it was a marvellous ten minutes of almost non-stop laughter! When I took that photo I was sitting in a boat myself, with my bum in a pool of water, using all my core strength to contort myself to get the composition I wanted in the small amount of space I had, without falling into the water. I was laughing almost as much as Mark, and enjoying this surreal moment just as much as them. The awesomely brilliant Dave from B2B Productions who filmed Lianne and Mark’s wedding for them was sitting next to me, laughing just as much and also worrying about capsizing! It’s one of those moments that will live vividly in my memory and I hope just as vividly in the memories of Mark and Lianne, forever thanks to this photo.
Lianne and Mark got married in the beautiful Lancashire countryside at Browsholme Hall and Tithe Barn. A venue I’ve worked at only once before when my friends Leyla and James got married there in 2013. I’d been longing to go back ever since so was delighted when Mark and Lianne said they wanted to have me at their wedding. And it was such an amazing wedding. Lovely, lovely people who don’t take themselves or life too seriously, having a laid back, chilled wedding with their favourite people around them, smiling and laughing their way through it with their beautiful daughter by their side and not a care in the world. So much happiness, so much love. So many photos…
