Lynn and Phil’s wedding at Formby Hall Golf Resort

Lynn and Phil are two of the most brilliant people on the earth. That’s just a fact.

They got married last summer on a quite spectacular English summer’s day, first at a beautiful little church in Burscough in Lancashire and later at Formby Hall golf resort in Southport. I’ve met people who wear their hearts on their sleeves before but nothing quite like Lynn and Phil. I tend to get a feeling how things are going to go when I arrive with the girls in the morning and I could just tell it was going to be an emotional day, and when I nipped round the corner to get a few shots of Phil and his groomsmen suiting up, I knew it was going to be a tearjerker. And it really was. All day long.

I got to the church about half an hour before Lynn arrived and Phil was already struggling to hold back the tears, having to spend most of the time staring at the ceiling of the church just to keep things in check! By the time Lynn arrived to crowds of people waiting outside the church to see her (it seems she’s quite the celebrity hairdresser in these parts!), Phil’s cheeks had tears streaming down while he still started straight up at the ceiling!

The ceremony was one extreme or the other – they were either chuckling or wiping tears. It was a joy to be part of, and that’s really how the day continued – a complete rollercoaster of emotion all the way through the speeches and first dance too.

It was great to have the amazing Oscar Castro alongside me shooting this wedding, all the way over from Mexico as part of his world tour last year. I hope we can shoot together again sometime Oscar!
