Gav and Lucy’s chilled out wedding at Sandhole Oak Barn
After a string of ‘teaser’ posts lately I’m glad to be able to blog Gav and Lucy’s wedding today. They were married on Good Friday at the incredible Sandhole Oak Barn in Congleton, Cheshire. It was the first time I’ve worked at Sandhole and already I can’t wait to go back – it’s a tremendous wedding venue set by a big lake and feels so private, peaceful and exclusive. It’s great.
And so are Gav and Lucy.
The first time I met them, I knew their wedding would be something special. Then we met for their pre-wedding experience at Formby Beach and after the pictures we made there, I was even more excited. And I wasn’t disappointed – it was an incredible day, and it’ll be a long time before I see a bride climb over a gate again! You’ll see what I mean later… On with the photos.
One of the happiest ceremonies I’ve ever witnessed…
Something blue… a present from Gav.
And here he is again, this time showing Lucy who’s boss – “No, you most certainly may not have a look at my train. I don’t care if you’re the bride or not.”
We ran out of time before the wedding breakfast to do Gav and Lucy’s signature portraits, so we nipped off for a walk between starter and main! These photos made me fall even more in love with Sandhole Oak Barn. So peaceful, so picturesque.
I said to Lucy that we couldn’t walk all the way round the lake because the gate is locked on the other side. This was her reaction. This bride will not be beaten by a gate!
I stole their rings while they tucked into their main course, which I was also lucky enough to eat. The catering and on-the-day co-ordination was by Annette and her team at Top Table Weddings and Events. The food was absolutely delicious and the day went so smoothly thanks to the brilliant Top Table team. Can’t recommend them highly enough.
Speeches done, time to explore…
He got her this locket – she got him that watch. Gav had the locket engraved with the longitude and latitude of the place where they met. How amazing is that?!
Rain. Time to head inside and dance.
Gav, Lucy – what can I say? Your day was immense. So brilliant, so you. It was a pleasure to point my cameras at it. Thanks a million. And thanks again to Top Table and Sandhole Oak Barn for your friendliness and hospitality on the day.
If you’re getting married at Sandhole and looking for a photographer – I’d love to hear from you!
