Suzy and Hugh’s Warwickshire Wedding at Gorcott Hall
I first met Suzy and Hugh in April 2014 when Suzy was one of Kirsty’s bridesmaids at her Belle Epoque wedding to Paul. She and Hugh asked me to take their photo together on the dancefloor right at the end of the evening and then mentioned that they were getting married. Afterwards, we exchanged a few emails and then it was all arranged for me to be their wedding photographer at Gorcott Hall, which I was super delighted about! So fast forward a year and a bit and here we were on a beautiful early summer’s day at the hidden gem that is Gorcott Hall just outside of Birmingham.
Suzy and her bridesmaids and mum were getting ready in one of the little cottages, and later in the morning Hugh arrived with his brother to check over everything and make sure it was all perfect, which it absolutely was! The sun beat down all day; they had drinks, canapes and lots of hugs and laughter in the Gorcott Hall gardens. Later they enjoyed some beautiful food in the barn, and instead of a first dance they just wanted to be able to chat the night away with some cheese and wine, before topping it all off with a spectacular fireworks display.
Suzy wore the same veil her mum wore for her wedding, which was very special to her. The box was marked up at £8 – now I have absolutely no idea how much veils cost nowadays but I’m sure it’s much more than this!! Of course, being able to wear her mum’s veil was absolutely priceless for Suzy… I absolutely loved the closeness of these two families, and how they weren’t afraid to show how they felt about each other and this day. There’s a moment you’ll see below where Suzy’s dad looks to the ceiling with palpable emotion while gripping Suzy’s hand extra tightly a moment before he had to officially ‘hand her over’. It felt like such a special moment. And their day was full of little moments like this, of which you can see a selection of my favourites below…
Suzy and Hugh – it was such an immense pleasure to be your wedding photographer at Gorcott Hall. I wish you a lifetime of days as happy as this one.
