Wedding Photographers Peckforton Castle
Katie and Ali’s incredible August wedding at Peckforton Castle
Katie and Ali are the nicest people in the world. I’ve had that independently verified by the Guinness Book of World Records. Definitely.
I met them about a hundred years ago at Dukes 92 in Manchester to talk about the possibility of being their wedding photographer at Peckforton Castle, thanks to a recommendation from an old work friend Jeannie who is, or was (I lose track) now a teacher colleague of Katie’s. We instantly got along like a house on fire (where does that phrase even come from?!) and I knew I would love to be part of their Peckforton Castle wedding. So I was über delighted when they said they wanted me to be there!
Fast forward a lot of months and we all went on a day trip to Durham together to make them some pre-wedding photos. What a great day that was, dodging rain showers in the cathedrals, alleyways and stinky bridges of Durham. It just felt like we were three mates out taking photos for fun, and that’s exactly how I felt at their wedding too. Unfortunately the Durham rain also made an appearance on their wedding day, although it kindly waited for us to get a few photos in the Peckforton Castle grounds after their blessing in the chapel.
I arrived at Peckforton Castle early in the morning to sneak in a few shots of Ali and his groomsmen shooting stuff with guns and bows before heading up to see Katie with her mum and bridesmaids in the Castle. Peckforton Castle has a reputation for being “dark”. I think that’s unfair. Well, ok, it’s fair, but that just means you have to work a bit harder to find the light, but when you find it, it can be extra special.
To say that Katie and Ali enjoyed their wedding day at Peckforton Castle would be an understatement. They had an absolute blast, never stopped smiling and cherished every single moment… Moments I was able to capture for them, and here are a selection of my favourites.
By the way, Katie’s dress was by Pronovias and it was spectacular. Flowers by the lovely Didsbury Flower Lounge.
