Windermere Wedding Photography in the Lake District

Laura and Matt’s wedding at the Merewood, Lake Windermere

Laura and Matt are both train drivers, and they live in the beautiful City of York so of course we ended up at the impressive York station for their pre-wedding shoot. That’s the picture above. They got married in the spectacular English Lake District at the Merewood Country House Hotel overlooking Lake Windermere. It was one of those perfect English spring days, the bluebells out in force and the weather just beginning to play ball so that people could stay outside without constantly looking up at the sky wondering when it would turn on them!

These two never stop laughing. Well mainly Laura… Matt’s more of an “I’m laughing on the inside” sort of guy! But they are awesome! I loved being part of their wedding up at Lake Windermere and I loved working with my most excellent friend Tom Harrington of Silk Wedding Films.

Laura finished the day with a costume change before dancing the night away with a full Ceilidh and then an amazing first dance followed by Pie and Peas for the evening buffet which was just amazing. My mouth is watering just thinking about it now!

I got the most amazing message from Laura after she saw her photos: “On seeing that photo of me & my pearl earring a friend of mine said ‘Congratulations, you will enjoy looking at that photo for the rest of your life! And I think that is when it really hit me – what you have done, what you have given us & our family. Later, when I saw my mother laughing and dancing barefoot at the ceilidh, I knew instantly I had a photo both I and my sister will treasure forever. I cried for ten minutes straight, and am doing once more just thinking about it! How could I ever thank you enough for something so priceless?”

I try to create photos with real meaning, and knowing that I was able to do that so profoundly for Laura makes me super super SUPER happy!
