Wedding Photography in the Lake District for Helen and Jamie
What a thoroughly lovely day this was. Helen and Jamie’s wedding happened in Grasmere in the beautiful English Lake District on a gorgeous day. They got married at the Wordsworth Hotel which is a bit of a hidden gem! With its beautiful rooms, lovely grounds and footpaths along the river it’s a bit of a dream wedding venue.
They both got ready at the Wordsworth, and then met under the gazebo on the beautifully manicured lawns for their outdoor ceremony (one of only two UK outdoor ceremonies I’ve managed to witness this year, as all the others were forced indoors or under cover by the good old British weather!). It was such a lovely ceremony, as their closest and friends watched on as Helen and Jamie couldn’t stop smiling at each other! One of the loveliest ceremonies I’ve seen this year for sure.
Afterwards, they enjoyed some hugs, kisses, champagne and canapes on the lawn, then we took a short trip down to the lake for some portraits. There really is nothing like a summer’s day in the Lake District (yeah I know I’ve said that before, but it’s true!)
Hotels in the Lake District can tend to be very traditional, very olde world English, and the Wordsworth Hotel has that charm too but blends it with more contemporary decor, like the beautiful dining room where Helen and Jamie had their speeches and dinner. Later there was dancing, cigars and a few minutes alone by the river before they danced the night away with ties around their heads… So much fun!
I love love love my trips to weddings in the Lake District but it seems to like punishing me for leaving. After Leor and John’s wedding (on the blog here) I got a speeding ticket on the way home and after Helen and Jamie’s I dropped my wallet in the Wordsworth Hotel car park. Don’t worry Lake District – I’ll be back again soon!
