THE BEST WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY OF 2023

THE ANNUAL ARJ PHOTOGRAPHY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY COLLECTION – 2023 EDITION

My favourite album of 2023 was What Matters Most by Ben Folds, and my highlight of the year was seeing Ben Folds perform most of the songs from that album plus a few greatest hits right here in my hometown of Manchester. Magical times.

One of my favourite tracks on What Matters Most is called Back to Anonymous… And my favourite lyric from that particular song is:

“It’s a big world, with un-famous people who deserve the grand applause.”

I love that line, and I actually think about that line a lot. It kind of underlines how I feel about a lot of elements of the world these days while everyone’s getting their Andy Warhol predicted 15 minutes of fame thanks to social media, the word celebrity seems to have lost all meaning and – let’s face it – a lot of the wrong people are actually the ones getting ‘the grand applause’.

What I love about my life as a wedding photographer is I get to experience many corners of that big world, inside these beautiful wedding bubbles with the un-famous people who deserve the grand applause.

This post celebrates the year I’ve just had with 150 of the photos that made me smile, that illustrate that all-important multi-dimensional variety I so strive for as a wedding photographer, and that show – most importantly – just how much I care about what matters most to my couples.

This was my 2023 (and a tiny little bit of 2024 as I shot a wedding right at the beginning of January which has also squeezed into this post). I hope you love looking through these as much as I’ve loved attending each and every one of these weddings.
