Sonia and Ben’s Home and Away wedding at Peckforton Castle

Every wedding is different. Of course the old cliche is to say that’s because the people are different and that’s absolutely 100% true, but because of that the emotional investment is in a different currency each time. That’s pathetically poetic… I guess what I’m trying to say is that weddings can mean very different things to the different people at the wedding, and I see it as my job to represent all these feelings in the photos as they fizz and pop throughout the day. Bride, groom and beyond!

So Sonia and Ben’s Peckforton Castle wedding is the story of two homes, thousands of miles apart, and what that means to Sonia, Ben and their families. Sonia’s from the UK, Ben’s from Australia. Their lives are on the other side of the world but came back to Cheshire and Peckforton Castle to get married. Sonia was back in her home country with her family who I can tell miss her and Ben immensely. Ben brought his nearest and dearest over with him for the wedding, and for them it was an adventure into quite a different wedding culture. Ben’s best man and his wife were actually on their honeymoon at the wedding!! So here they were – all together – a super rare thing for them, experiencing S+B’s wedding on a range of emotional levels. Weddings are super emotional events anyway but when you know – like Sonia’s family did – that after the wedding there would be yet another goodbye as they go back to continue their lives on the other side of the world it only adds to the emotion within the wedding day itself.

But this was absolutely the happiest of happy days, a super relaxed Monday in May, with as much laughter as tears and so much hugging and kissing! Peckforton Castle delivered the magical, fantasy wedding they were hoping for and I hope that my photos keep the memories and feelings alive for them and their friends and family on both sides of the world.
