Sheridan and Nick’s Lancashire wedding at Rivington Barn

Sheridan is one of those people with that magical gift of making you feel like a long lost friend the first time you speak to her. I met her on Skype to have a chat about her and Nick’s Rivington Barn wedding and I could tell how excited she was about it, about having her grandad come out of retirement to perform the church ceremony and about having all the people she loves around her and Nick for what promised to be an amazing wedding at Rivington Hall Barn in the Lancashire countryside. And what an amazing wedding it was.

When I walked into the room where Sheridan was getting ready with her bridesmaids and mum, I was greeted with an amazing hug. Then Sheridan opened a series of gifts, each of which made her cry more and more! Then I headed over to meet Nick for the first time, and unsurprisingly he was just as wonderful and friendly. In a job as solitary as wedding photography can be at times, there’s nothing better than working with people who welcome me into their lives for the day like Sheridan and Nick did. Sheridan had organised a surprise wedding car for Nick – his favourite car in the world, a Shelby GT. So cool.

The ceremony was probably my favourite part of the day. Because Sheridan’s hilarious grandad had come out of retirement to perform it, it was so personal and such a happy, relaxed ceremony – all the traditions of a church wedding but it somehow felt like it was being performed at home. A difficult atmosphere to describe but extremely special.

After that they headed with all their guests over to Rivington Hall Barn for their reception. It was a scorcher of a summer’s day and Sheridan and Nick were really keen to explore the grounds to get a super cool set of portraits, so that’s exactly what we did and we were gifted the most amazing light to work with all day long! Nothing was out of bounds as Sheridan hitched up her dress and waded through the long grass to get to the locations I’d found!

After the heartfelt and emotional speeches, we had the most incredible golden hour, an extremely competitive bouquet toss and I left them dancing the night away. Here are some of my favourites from Sheridan and Nick’s Rivington Barn wedding…
