Indian Wedding Photographer – Capturing the magic of your iconic moments

Hello and welcome to ARJ Photography®! I’ve made this page to showcase my portfolio of South Asian and Indian wedding photography, and to tell you a bit more about my unique style of photography which I think may be perfect for your upcoming wedding!

I’ve been an Indian wedding photographer (photographer of Indian weddings, I mean) since 2012. And back then my first ever Indian wedding was Sonal and Parit’s multi-day Hindu wedding in Kenya. The irony is that back then, they hired me to be their wedding photographer because I had never photographed an Indian wedding, and now people hire me because I’ve got so much experience and portfolio!

Since that wedding I’ve photographed well over 50 Indian weddings and South Asian weddings, mainly Hindu weddings, but also Sri Lankan, Tamil, Sikh, Sindhi, Zoroastrian and more.

Of course, it helps that I have experience of all these different types of weddings but I’ll my documentary wedding photography style is so well suited to these detailed and intricate ceremonies and why that’s made me such a sought after Indian wedding photographer in Cheshire, Manchester and around the world over the last decade or so!

I’d be honoured to be part of your celebrations!

What makes me different to other Indian wedding photographers?

I mentioned above that when Sonal and Parit hired me for their Indian wedding in Kenya, their main reason for doing so was that they loved the overall style of my work and my approach, and they wanted that style and approach for their wedding photography, over and above having someone that had specific Indian wedding experience.

I still carry that forward into all my Indian wedding photography to this day, and it’s the same approach I have to all weddings not just Indian weddings.

I come into all weddings with a storyteller’s heart and an artist’s eye – I want to tell the real, true, authentic story of your wedding through a mindblowingly beautiful set of wedding photos. To me every moment that happens at your wedding is iconic and worth capturing, whether it’s an important ceremony moment or just two people laughing together over a drink.

It’s this editorial documentary style of wedding photography that most people fall in love with when they see my work. I want your photos to transport you back into your wedding whenever you want to go there, and help you feel every moment again as if you’re experiencing it for the first time. That’s the magic of photography I think.

I am not a photographer who comes in with a shot list, or a pre-conceived set of ideas of how your wedding should look in photos. To me, reality is the most magical thing of all and I’ve spent well over a decade perfecting my own style of wedding photography. Do you love it?

An award winning Indian wedding photographer!

When it comes to Indian wedding photography in Cheshire, Manchester, and beyond, I bring a perspective and style that stand out. Combining creativity, passion, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, I aim to capture the heart and soul of your Indian wedding celebrations in a way that’s truly unique. Because I know you don’t want photos like everyone else!

I’m honoured to have received recognition for my work, earning the prestigious title of UK Wedding Photographer of the Year from The Wedding Industry Awards on two occasions as well as hundreds of individual awards for my photos and storytelling. These accolades reflect my dedication to pushing the boundaries of wedding photography and consistently delivering extraordinary results for all my couples.

Every couple’s story is unique, and I approach each wedding with fresh eyes and an open heart because I’m not just photographing another Indian wedding, I’m photographing yours and yours won’t be like any other wedding I’ve seen before or will see after because no two weddings contain the same moments or the same people.

Candid and Natural Documentary Indian Wedding Photography – Because reality is magical!

The thing most people tell me they love about my wedding photography is how candid and natural it is, and I love that because at heart I’m a documentary wedding photographer, but I like to do documentary photography in a beautiful way which is why I call it ‘editorial documentary wedding photography’ because my goal is for every single photo – especially the real moments – to be good enough to go up in a massive frame on your wall.

Your wedding photos deserve to be more than just snapshots.

My couples have always said they don’t want their wedding to turn into what feels like a production, surrounded by photographers and videographers telling them what to do all day long, and that they just want to enjoy the day and have it captured by me so they never forget a moment.

And that’s my passion – these iconic moments of life that will happen at your wedding. I want to be there for them, I want to capture them for you, and it’s because I want to give you the best possible photos of your wedding day to remember it by.

My goal is to capture everything and everyone at your wedding, through a set of really beautiful photos full of emotion and energy. This one was taken at Kiran and Nij’s Sikh wedding just before the ceremony.

Editorial Indian Wedding Photography portraits – photos that ooze style and personality!

As well as the candid documentary approach to the vast majority of your wedding, plus some group photos, obviously it’s also really important that you get some epic shots of the two of you together!

My approach to your portraits is that they shouldn’t feel like something from the 90s with stiff awkward poses, but that they should be fun and natural, that you should enjoy having them taken and that when you see them they capture the essence of who you are as individuals and a couple – your unique personalities.

I give you all the direction you need to relax into your wedding portraits, and then I use my unique style to create you a set of photos that wouldn’t look out of place on the cover of any of the world’s high end fashion magazines.

I often say the documentary photos of your wedding are there to capture the story of who you and your family were at this moment in time, to teleport you back into those moments, and to show future generations.

The editorial photos of your wedding – your couple shots and portraits – they’re there to make your friends jealous of how incredible you looked and what a great photographer you had 😉

Over the years I’ve been fortunate to photograph many destination Indian weddings including this Abu Dhabi Indian wedding and others in Kenya, Thailand and Dubai. The photo above was taken at the epic Qasr Al Sarab in the Abu Dhabi desert.

Multi Day Indian Wedding Photography

One of my favourite things about being an Indian wedding photographer in Cheshire or anywhere else is just how immersive the weddings are, and I especially love to capture multi-day celebrations that include your pre-wedding events like the sangeet, mehndi, jago, haldi and everything that leads up to your wedding ceremony.

The great thing about this is that all these events are more connected to your every-day real life than the wedding day itself. Often they’re less about the production, decor and choreography and more about the culture and the people who are most important in your lives.

So if you’re keen to have all your events captured, I can absolutely do this for you.

A destination Indian Wedding Photographer

Whether you’re looking for an Indian wedding photographer in Cheshire or Kenya, I’d love to be there.

Over the years, capturing Indian weddings has become a real passion of mine because I believe I do it in a different way to all other photographers and I bring my unique style and vision into your celebration.

As a destination wedding photographer I’ve been fortunate to travel the world capturing weddings, and I’d love to capture yours wherever in the world it’s happening.

One thing that’s eluded me over the years has been to capture an Indian wedding in India – I’d really love to do that!

An Indian wedding photographer who is endorsed by Indian Wedding Planner Knots & Nuptials and Indian Wedding Venue Offley Place

I am proud to be a recommended supplier at the jewel in the crown of Indian wedding venues, the magical Offley Place in Hertfordshire. Since photographing Bijal and Hursh’s Offley Place wedding back in 2021, they started recommending me to their couples and this is something I’m proud of because it shows that I’m a positive part of your wedding – not just from your perspective but also the perspective of all your suppliers and venue.

I’m also really honoured to be recommended by Nalini at Knots & Nuptials. Nalini is an incredible Indian wedding planner with an unrivalled attention to detail and VERY high standards, so I was incredibly happy when she asked if she could recommend me as an Indian wedding photographer to her couples after we worked together for Nikki and Piotr’s Hedsor House indian wedding.
