Kate and Ashley’s wedding at The Ashes in Endon, Staffordshire
What a wedding venue The Ashes is, down in Endon in Staffordshire. A truly incredible setting with views across the Staffordshire countryside and two beautiful barns to host ceremonies and receptions, both of which Kate and Ashley enjoyed at The Ashes on this Tuesday in August. It was one of those days which seemed to happen regularly throughout August this year – drizzly, but with enough gaps to mean it was hardly an issue. Kate and Ashley and their guests managed to enjoy confetti, drinks and some photos in the spectacular gardens and surroundings of the Ashes before rain forced them inside shortly before dinner.
On my way to the Ashes in the morning I stopped off at Crewe Hall to see Ashley and the boys for a bit, then I arrived at The Ashes to find Kate and her bridal party getting ready in the cottage, shortly followed by lots of ‘ooh’s and ‘aah’s when their flowers were delivered by the lovely Green Earth Flowers. It had been raining throughout the morning, but luckily it stopped in time for Kate to make the short walk across the courtyard to the barn for the ceremony, and stayed dry until about an hour after the ceremony.
My highlights of Kate and Ashley’s day were: seeing them both light up when they met at the front of the ceremony (I don’t think they stopped smiling all day from that moment onwards); all three hilarious speeches; and Ashley’s amazing ukelele rendition of ‘marry you’ and ‘ignition’ in place of a first dance in the evening! You heard it right – Ashley, as a complete surprise to Kate, opened the party with a ukelele and two of Kate’s favourite songs – amazing!
Congratulations you guys, and thanks for letting me be a part of it! And thanks to Sarah from The Ashes for being such a pleasure to work with on the day!
