Capesthorne Hall Wedding Photography

Claire and Mike’s Cheshire wedding at Capesthorne Hall

Weddings go by in a blur for the people getting married and they do for me too in a way… I have to stay lucid and aware of what’s coming and what the general plans are, but I allow myself to get caught up in the whirlwind of the day, capturing it mainly on instinct, and I’m not always fully aware of what I’ve captured until I download the photos, because as soon as one moment is captured, I’m ready for the next one. But still, usually a few moments from each wedding day stick in my mind, define this couple’s day, and I thought this time I’d tell you what those things are from Claire and Mike’s Capesthorne Hall wedding…

I remember Claire’s nerves on the morning of the wedding. This was not what I expected as when we met for their pre-wedding shoot she was such a vivid character. On the wedding day, when I arrived she was lost in her own world of nerves and forethought about the day ahead, and I know her mind was already at that moment when she would be by Mike’s side again at the top of the aisle. Despite the excited hustle and bustle of her brilliant bridesmaids and parents around her, she was quite quiet throughout.

I remember the absolute beaming pride on Claire’s dad Stuart’s face as he walked her first from the car, then down the aisle, and as he stood just behind her and watched her become Mike’s wife. I realised later just how close these families are already, and how much Claire’s family absolutely adore Mike as much as she does, but during the ceremony I really felt the bond between Claire and her dad – as he gripped her hand and exchanged smiles with her before handing her over to Mike and the future.

My last vivid memory, and of course there’s a photo of this below too, is another moment during the ceremony… I had loved watching Claire and Mike’s ceremony at St Mary’s Church in Nether Alderley through my viewfinder as they smiled and giggled their way through it. There were also a few emotional moments. Just after their vows I think when Claire had welled up a bit, and they knelt in front of the vicar, with their backs to their families and friends, out of sight Mike reached into the inside pocket of his beautiful suit and produced a spotted handkerchief and handed it to Claire. She didn’t need it, but rested her hand on his arm and smiled. It’s the thought that counts and I saw so much love and respect in this tiny gesture.

After the church ceremony they headed over to Capesthorne Hall for their wedding reception and enjoyed a beautiful English summer afternoon in the sunshine. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect and for my first experience of a Capesthorne Hall wedding, it was a great one – I loved being a part of Claire and Mike’s day with them and their familes, and I can’t wait to return to Capesthorne Hall for hopefully lots more weddings in the future!
