Bradbourne House Kent Wedding

Mahua and Rouvick’s beautiful summer outdoor wedding at Bradbourne House, Kent.

I really love it when stuff like this happens… Back in 2016 I photographed the beautiful Tuscan wedding of Susan and Joe at my favourite Italian wedding venue Le Filigare. After that I photographed Susan’s sister Liza and Mani’s wedding at Bridwell Park in Devon. Mahua was a guest at Mani and Liza’s wedding in Devon… saw the photos… loved them, and when world events forced them to move their wedding from India closer to their UK families in Kent, she reached out to me and asked me to photograph her and Rouvick’s Bradbourne House Kent wedding… and I’m SO GLAD they did because it was an absolute beauty of a day in every possible way.

I started the day by finding Mahua at her family home in Kent, a beautiful farmhouse surrounded by countryside on a quintessential English summer day. She was beaming with a smile that never left her face for the rest of the day, apart from a few emotional moments with her parents before and after the ceremony and in response to some amazing things being said during the speeches.

They headed over to Bradbourne House for their wedding ceremony. What a cool little country house this is, set in the most gorgeous grounds which we explored after the wedding ceremony to make some photos before they headed back home for a marquee reception, some speeches, a bonfire, garden games and the biggest bottle of Chivas Regal I think I’ve ever seen. It also turns out Rouvick makes a mean whiskey sour – my favourite!

My focus at weddings has always been to make the most beautiful photos that capture the iconic moments. Iconic moments aren’t always huge, overblown explosions of energy. Sometimes it’s your aunt waving at your family joining the wedding over zoom in what’s likely to become normal at weddings for the foreseeable future. Sometimes it’s the tiny little tear that drips down from your eyelid when your mum hugs you just after you’ve been showered in confetti and you realise there’s more to this hug than the others. Maybe it’s your nephew attacking your brother in the face during your heartfelt speech, because he has no idea what a speech is anyway! I look for these moments, I live for these moments. Mahua and Rouvick’s wedding was full of these moments and I loved capturing them.
