A Hertfordshire Home Marquee Wedding
A Church Ceremony and Home Marquee Wedding reception for S+M
Video: Chris Jerome James
I had to begin this post with a photo of some Guinness because Guinness was very much the theme of this wedding. Ok that’s not quite true – it was one of the themes! The overriding theme of the wedding was pure unadulterated joy, and I still miss hanging out with Sarah and Mark since their home marquee wedding in Hertfordshire!
We’d chatted in the build up to the day and I just couldn’t wait to hang out with them and be at their wedding, let alone be the photographer for it! They are just the most wonderful people, and they have such a crazy amount of fun together and are such fun to be around!
This wedding was also my first time working with the frankly legendary Chris Jerome James on video. Check him out – he’s so talented and one of the loveliest people along with his wife Jess.
I consider myself a moment photographer first and foremost. I consider all the moments that happen at weddings to be iconic moments in people’s lives, and whether those moments are loud and obvious or quiet and subtle, I consider them equally iconic. I would say however, that the moments on Sarah and Mark’s home marquee wedding day were all towards the loud and obvious end of the scale. This was an absolute party of a wedding from start to finish!
But that said, my challenge at the weddings where everything is high octane and high energy is to make sure I’m also looking for the more subtle emotional moments of the day that exist and happen in and around the big moments. And I feel like I did that well for Sarah and Mark, because those moments were definitely there too. Like Mark looking to the sky just before Sarah walked down the church aisle, or Mark’s mum being the only one looking at him while everyone else had their eyes on Sarah. I love that.
Another thing Sarah and Mark had told me in the build up is that they didn’t want to miss any part of the wedding shenanigans just to go off and have portraits, so we found the perfect time to do some portraits during dinner. It didn’t take long and I’m so glad we took this time!
Sarah and Mark thanks for making me feel like part of the party on your day, like one of the family. It was so amazing to be part of your wedding!
Enjoy this selection of my faves from this Hertfordshire Home Marquee Wedding!
