Wedding Photographer of the Year North West – The Wedding Industry Awards
Well Monday was an interesting day! I was nervously pacing around the house all day because I knew it was the day The Wedding Industry Awards would announce the results of the North West regional awards, and I was in the running for Wedding Photographer of the Year against some super tough competition and some of my good friends. I wasn’t able to attend the awards party so I resorted to Twitter, refreshing the @TWIA_Official feed every couple of seconds as new awards were announced. I haven’t felt nerves like that in a long time, and to make things worse, the photography award was the last one they announced! But when my name came up I was absolutely speechless and totally over the moon!
“North West Wedding Photographer of the Year” has a very nice ring to it and what’s cool about this award is that it’s not only based on photos. It’s based on what all my couples over the last 12 months have said about their photos and about their experience of having me at their weddings. I give my all every week, I work relentlessly to not only take what I think are great photos but to also make sure that it’s a great experience from start to finish. My overriding goal is obviously for people to love the photos, to feel like I really captured the essence of their day but I also love it when they comment on my packaging or attention to detail in other areas. That’s why The Wedding Industry Award is such a coveted title, and that’s why I’m so proud to be North West Wedding Photographer of the Year!
But it doesn’t end here… Anyone who knows me knows about my die-hard competitive spirit. This regional title – as much as I adore it and treasure it – is just the semi-final. In London, in January I’ll compete against the other regional winners for the national crown. Much more nervous pacing to come I think!
To all the people who let me come to their weddings and take photos, and voted for me for this award, thanks a million!! Cheers to you all! And congratulations to all the other winners too – see you all in London! Finally, thanks to the award judges too!
I’ve got so many weddings still to blog from this year so here’s a taster of what’s still to come…
