A blur of all that makes life worth living
A vivid blur, a fleeting glimpse
Of all that is and all that can be
A blur that fills the heart with wonder
And leaves us feeling truly alive.
That’s how I’d describe 2022. A vivid blur of a year.
If this is your first time landing on this annual post of mine, it’s something I do every year (click here for previous collections). It’s a collection of my favourite wedding photos taken over the last 12 months… The best wedding photos I’ve taken? Maybe. But I just pick them because I love them. Because they remind me of these days, these couples, these families and these moments.
I’m addicted to this job. With every year as my skills improve, so does the pressure I feel to capture these iconic moments for you all. Especially as the wider world isn’t the happiest of places these days – getting to exist in these bubbles of unadulterated joy week in and week out isn’t just enjoyable, it’s absolutely incredible.
Thank you to each and every couple who invited me into their lives for a day (or several days in some cases). You’ve made me feel welcome, made me feel like a friend, and even made me feel like family. You’ve fed me and made sure I was drinking enough water as the temperature crept up to 40 degrees. You’ve tried to make me dance with you… I don’t dance, but I appreciate you trying! You’ve refused to let me leave until I’ve had a drink with you. You’ve made me feel like I’m the best wedding photographer in the world.
I have a very loose method to my wedding photography. It’s designed to make sure I’m one step ahead when I can be and in the right place at the right time whenever possible. But apart from that, keeping my method loose and open minded allows me to capture each of your days as uniquely as possible. I’ve said before I want to look back at my year of photos and see multidimensional variety and I see and feel that this year, possibly more than ever. That makes me happy.
