K+M’s romantic black tie wedding at Buxted Park with lots of rain!

I’ve I’m ever asked in future ‘what happens if it rains?’ I think I’ll just send people to this page! Because we do live in the UK, and it definitely rains here, so there’s always a chance it will rain on your wedding day, whatever time of year! K+M had their wedding at Buxted Park in July, and it was torrential rain for most of the day – but as you’ll see from the photos, they absolutely laughed in the face of the weather and still had the best day ever! It meant we had to work around the weather at times for things like their couple portraits and group photos, but we managed it and we had fun doing it.

But I will never hide from the rain as a wedding photographer. The story of the day is the story of the day, and a huge part of the story of K+M’s wedding was getting K from the main house at Buxted Park down to the church, 500m away. Easy on a dry day, but with K’s dress and the torrential rain, not so easy!

Luckily between the amazing Sian at Busy Brides Wedding Planners and the venue staff from Buxted Park, K was delivered to the church bone dry and happy. In fact she didn’t stop smiling and laughing all day, so that’s the answer to ‘what if it rains?’ – so what if it rains?!

The church ceremony was gorgeous, so atmospheric (probably made more atmospheric by the rain) and so romantic. K+M had gone for a black and white theme for the day, and with all the men in black tie it just had a properly romantic old hollywood vibe. I loved it.

After the ceremony it was still raining so confetti was put on the back burner until later by me and Sian at Busy Brides (highly recommended planner by the way, she’s amazing). And another military operation ensued to get K out of the church, back to the venue. More great photos that not all photographers would have captured!

After that the weather wasn’t quite as bad but it was still on and off rain so we had to find shelter for the group photos and couple portraits… but luckily Buxted Park has some amazing covered areas, and we probably would’ve done the photos here whatever the weather… so what if it rains?!

After speeches and some dinner, the weather had finally dried up and we zipped outside for some proper outdoor shots of K+M before heading back in for some more dinner and some more speeches. Their first dance was an epic choreographed routine, and there were some German tracks played (M is from Germany) which got half the crowd very excited!

To end the night we finally did the confetti outside in the dark which was epic, and then some fireworks.
