A Hindu and Sikh Osmaston Park Indian Wedding
R+P’s Osmaston Park Indian Wedding with reception at The Willows Wolverhampton
Venue: Osmaston Park
I really loved spending both these days with R+P! They’re such amazingly warm souls and such fun to be around. I really felt like one of their best mates or brothers, and for me as a wedding photographer that’s such a valuable feeling, to feel so welcomed into people’s lives so warmly. Thank you for that R+P and your friends and families.
The first part of their wedding was at the amazing Osmaston Park in Derbyshire. A truly spectacular wedding venue in Derbyshire. The weather on this day was mostly torrential rain, and while it didn’t dampen the spirits of the day, a key feature of this venue is the views across the amazing rolling hills of Derbyshire and the Peak District. Luckily, the sun shone eventually and they were able to enjoy that element of the venue for a while.
This was for their Hindu wedding, and Rav’s entrance to a backdrop of smoke flares and laughter was something to behold. I always think it must be such a cool feeling to be a groom at an Indian wedding, just because you arrive with such fanfare and are treated like a king and a god for that day. I know that’s what it symbolises now, but I’ve always just thought it’s a mega cool moment in his life. I love capturing it.
The bride has a much quieter start to the wedding, although this means that once she makes her entrance into the ceremony it’s a really incredible moment.
The second leg of their wedding was the Sikh ceremony at the Gurdwara in Wolverhampton. Sikh wedding days are totally different to Hindu ones, and I’ve photographed enough of both now to know everything I need to know to make sure I’m capturing it the way it should be captured while still being incredibly respectful to the rules of the Gurdwara and priest and without disturbing the guests. It’s a much quieter ceremony too, and I really loved the photos I was able to capture for R+P during their Sikh ceremony.
Afterwards we headed to The Willows for the reception, via a park for some group photos and portraits. The weather on this day was the opposite of two weeks earlier, and we were able to get loads of outdoor shots and take our time a bit because everyone was off getting changed for the reception.
The reception at The Willows was high octane from the start! Such a fun group of friends and family. And then the party was off the chain.
Thanks for having me R+P. And R wants everyone to know that Papa Johns is the superior pizza in the world of pizzas.
