Hindu Wedding Photography in Phuket, Thailand – Meera and Meeraj Sangeet Day
So day one (see it here if you missed it!) finished on an absolute high at Meera and Meeraj’s after party at the cool bar at the JW Marriott hotel in Phuket, Thailand. Day two was super chilled and all about the mehndi for all the female guests and then the amazing Sangeet in the evening. This is the first time I’ve experienced a Sangeet at an Indian wedding and it was so cool. It’s basically a more relaxed reception with some choreographed dancing then another party and it all took place on the beach front lawns at the Renaissance Phuket resort.
After the storms of the night before, this was quite a dull and drizzly day but everyone was quite happy for it to be this way as it would hopefully mean a sunny day the next day for the main outdoor wedding ceremony. So most of the daytime was spent in the Takieng beach house where people were having their mehndi (me and Pete even had a little bit on our arms!), there was a photobooth outside, a visit from a baby elephant for a little while and the weather dried up long enough that we managed to spend a little time getting some quiet portraits and some photos of Meera and her bridesmaids down by the beach.
Meera and Meeraj (I love that their names differ only by a single letter!) were adamant they were having their Sangeet outside in the evening, even if it was a little rainy and they got their wish. It looked spectacular, all lit with pink and purple lights and had such an incredible atmosphere, complete with fireworks to top it all off. Then to end the night they all headed back to the beach house for more drinks and dancing.
It’s a bit of a feast for the eyes…
Tomorrow is the main event, the big one, and it’s a cracker!!
