Destination Wedding Photography Thailand
Meera and Meeraj’s epic Indian wedding at the Phuket Renaissance Resort, Thailand
I’ve been looking forward to blogging this for quite a while, but I think I’ve been putting it off because I’m so sad it’s over! But here we go with the first day of Meera and Meeraj’s incredibly wonderful Indian wedding celebrations in the stunning surroundings of the Renaissance Phuket Resort and Spa. For obvious reasons I was so excited when Meera and Meeraj first contacted me about being their wedding photographer in Thailand. I had to read the email a couple of times to make sure I understood – Thailand! I can’t believe how lucky I am to be able to travel the world taking photos of weddings, but this was just a dream destination. Then they booked, and I may have danced around the house. For an hour.
At that time, in all honesty, I was just over the moon to be going to Thailand to take photos of a wedding. Unreal. But now, after the wedding, my favourite memory is just Meera and Meeraj. I don’t know what I can say about these two people with the biggest hearts of anyone I think I’ve ever met. I think I’ve gained two life long friends on this adventure, and that is what I will forever remember most about this wedding. I can’t thank Meera and Meeraj enough for treating me the way they did before, during and after their wedding. You guys are just the best.
I was also lucky enough to have one of my best friends in the world, Pete, as my wingman for this wedding. I think without him there I may have gone a little bonkers and probably melted too. Thanks for everything big fella.
So this is day one… Meeraj and Meera’s mandvo ceremonies, Meera’s mendhi and the most surreal and brilliant welcome dinner and after party ever.
Mandvo ceremonies are so cool and start quite subdued building to excitement as each family watches their son/daughter begin the process of marriage. Even cooler is that Meera actually found me initially searching online for Mandvo ceremony information, and found a photo of her school friend Sonal, whose wedding I had photographed in Kenya! The internet is a wonderful thing! Later on, surrounded by her amazing friends, Meera had her mendhi and a raspberry mojito or two! Then in the evening the most brilliant dinner and party – when it started to suddenly pour with rain I was the only excited person as I had been planning the photo above just in case it happened! Nobody got wet (apart from me and Pete!) thanks to some super fast umbrella holders! And to finish the night a party at the next door JW Marriott Phuket hotel, complete with neon shots, lady boys, sheesha, and more rain!
An amazing start to an unbelievable wedding…
