Maddy and JJ’s uniquely beautiful Sutton Bonington Hall Wedding

What an unbelievably beautiful day this was. And I don’t just mean the weather which was also top notch. Maddy and JJ are two of the biggest characters I’ve worked with. So brilliantly themselves all the time, and so very much in love with not just each other but also their families and friends who they shared this day with. Every wedding is uniquely beautiful – it’s become a bit of a catch phrase for me over the years, but it’s because the true story of each day (after the main weddingy bits) is so very different.

This day, Maddy and JJ’s unique and beautiful day was all about having the best possible time. If it was a sports analogy, they left everything out on the pitch. Left nothing to chance in making sure they extracted every last drop of the heart and soul of their wedding day. Absolutely tremendous.

I call myself a documentary photographer for this exact reason. I know people will get ready then a ceremony will happen then blah blah blah – all the wedding bits. But I don’t know that there will be an impromptu party-before-the-party in the hallway of the venue for example! And that was my favourite part of Maddy and JJ’s Sutton Bonington Hall wedding! All of a sudden they were all singing and dancing and kissing and hugging in a room about the size of my living room (and I don’t have a very big living room!). Priceless moments. I got the photo above of JJ kissing Maddy on the hand while she’s oblivious and it’s just one of my favourites I’ve ever taken and I can’t even tell you why.

The actual party was amazing too. And really this day was just one big party, and I smile whenever I think about it.
